Diving into Implementation Science

Diving Into Implementation Science: A Fast-Track Introduction is an engaging workshop exploring how research translates into real-world impact. Designed for those interested in applying evidence to practice, it introduces the core principles of implementation science and how they work together to close the gap between what we know and what we do.

Central to the course is the know-do gap—the difference between the best evidence and its application in everyday settings. Participants will examine fidelity (delivering interventions as intended), adaptation (context-specific modifications without losing effectiveness), and feasibility (how practical constraints shape implementation).

Through real-world examples, such as oral rehydration solutions for reducing child mortality, learners will see these concepts in action and reflect on how they apply to their own work. This clear, approachable introduction equips participants to think critically about designing and refining strategies to improve health outcomes, setting the stage for further exploration and application.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the foundational concepts of implementation science, including the know-do gap, fidelity, adaptation, and feasibility.
  • Identify real-world factors that influence the success or failure of implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Reflect on how implementation principles apply to their own settings to improve health outcomes.
